Framework
Innovative Curriculum Framework
The Synergistic Literacy Flywheel on one page: reading, writing, spelling and grammar turning as a single system, each with teacher notes, a skill focus and assessment strategies. Built for Grades 4–7.
Framework & Assessment
One page that maps the whole agenda — the Synergistic Literacy Flywheel for Grades 4–7 — and the assessment sheet that records all four pillars at once.
Framework
The Synergistic Literacy Flywheel on one page: reading, writing, spelling and grammar turning as a single system, each with teacher notes, a skill focus and assessment strategies. Built for Grades 4–7.
Assessment
A single-page record covering all four pillars — reading synthesis, writing mechanics, word structure and functional grammar — closing with teacher feedback, goal setting and a four-level mastery scale.
The Synergistic Literacy Flywheel
The framework sets out each pillar with teacher notes, a specific skill focus and assessment strategies — with integration arrows running between them, because no pillar is meant to be taught on its own.
Deconstruct & model. Mentor text analysis with cited evidence, genre study and strategies, critical thinking.
Synthesize & create. Generative writing prompts, narrative and informational craft, revision and publication.
Decode & anchor. Morphological analysis of affixes, orthographic mapping, word study in context.
Structure & mechanics. Parts-of-speech colour coding, sentence building and translation, functional syntax application.
The flywheel resolves into a guided project application and an integrated assessment plan.
Each worksheet has a matching teacher answer key. Spelling and grammar share one sheet, because they are taught together.
| Pillar | What the worksheet covers | Worksheet | Answer key |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Reading | A mentor passage, then main idea and inference with cited evidence, author's purpose, and language tasks that reach into the other three pillars. | Read | Read |
| 2 & 3. Spelling & Grammar | Word study in context, vowel teams and digraphs, prefixes and suffixes; alongside parts-of-speech labelling, sentence combining and transformation. | Read | Read |
| 4. Writing | Mentor text analysis, descriptive verbs and appositive phrases, a generative narrative prompt, and a synthesis paragraph with a self-check list. | Read | Read |
| All four | The skill assessment sheet: reading synthesis, writing mechanics, word structure and functional grammar on one page, closing with teacher feedback and a four-level mastery scale. | Read the assessment | |
